This work was composed in 2003 as a surprise gift to George McPhee in honour of his fortieth anniversary as Director of Music at Paisley Abbey' Scotland' The first performance was given on Christmas Eve 2003 at the service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Paisley Abbey' with the abbey choir and Oliver Rundell 'organ' conducted by George McPhee'
