NAXOS MOZART CD - In the early 1780s Mozart embarked on his most ambitious project in the sacred music genre, the C minor Mass. Unlike most of his music at that time, it was not composed to a commission, but simply to fulfil a desire to write a large-scale sacred work. Though it remained incomplete, the sheer scope of his vision has earned the work the title, the 'Great' C minor Mass. It is scored for two sopranos, tenor & bass soloists, choir with orchestra & organ.
