This mass and its accompanying anthem ('The Shepherd',) are based on the hymn 'Awake my soul, and with the sun, thy daily stage of duty run.' It is not obligatory to perform the hymn in the service, especially if the anthem is performed, as it quotes from the hymn. If performed, the anthem should be placed after Lamb of God.
